Welcome to Shop Notes, an area for me to post about whats happening in the shop from time to time and touch on my thoughts on building.

Although I started building instruments in 1994 my desire to continually improve has lead me to the study of different styles of tops for the steel string guitar. These tops range from standard Martin style X bracing to lattice braced tops in the style of Greg Smallman, double tops and hybrid "X-fan" inspried from the designs of Jeff Elliot.
